Hazardous Material

What do you do if you find an old Firearm, Ammunition or Explosives in the attic?

We do occasionally have to deal with firearms and other prohibited items such as large knives and possible offensive weapons during a house clearance. These may have been antiques or collectables from the war era to modern hunting equipment or souvenirs. The firearms may have been legally held under a shotgun certificate or FAC firearms certificate. In all of these cases we work in association with Bristol and Avon Police force to ensure they are transferred to custody and the appropriate paperwork is completed.

Once in custody we have often been able to make a financial offer for the firearm through our network of firearm dealers.

The important point here is that we responsibly deal with any item that we discover with the appropriate authorities to ensure that it is in safe hands and not a risk to us, you or the general public now or at a later date.

Disposal of Chemicals and Acids, Gas and Asbestos.

Every household has some chemicals and often asbestos within in some form or another. As a company we take our responsibility seriously and ensure we dispose of all items correctly and in line with current legislation.

If substantial quantities of Asbestos is discovered in an area we are clearing we must inform you and cease operations until it is removed safely by a third party. The cost of this third party would be outside of the agreed contract between us for the house clearance.
